About the Chamber

The initiative to establish a Chamber of Shipping in Saint Lucia stemmed from a collective recognition of the importance of fostering a robust and sustainable maritime sector. This endeavor aimed to address the fragmented nature of the shipping industry in Saint Lucia and to advocate for its interests both domestically and internationally. Given Saint Lucia’s strategic location and rich maritime heritage, immense potential exists for the development of shipping-related activities, including trade, tourism, and transportation. The Chamber serves as a unifying platform established to promote the interests of the shipping industry, enhance collaboration among stakeholders, and drive growth and innovation within the sector.

With the island’s maritime economy heavily reliant on income from the cruise industry and currently lacking reliable liner services, the Chamber aims to enhance communication within the sector and influence policy implementation. Acting as a lobbying group, it engages with the government and international associations to promote the interests of its member companies, participates in legislative and policy development, and strives to improve the shipping infrastructure of Saint Lucia.
