Saint Lucia Strengthens Regional Maritime Collaboration at Caribbean Shipping Executives’ Conference 2026

The Saint Lucia Chamber of Shipping recently participated in the 24th Caribbean Shipping Executives’ Conference (CSEC) held in Curaçao and hosted by the Caribbean Shipping Association. The annual conference brought together regional shipping executives, port authorities, logistics providers, and maritime stakeholders to discuss the future of Caribbean shipping and maritime development.

Over the course of the conference, delegates engaged in discussions on a range of key issues impacting the regional maritime sector, including trade facilitation, port development, logistics, digital transformation, maritime sustainability, and strengthening regional collaboration. The event also provided valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and partnership building among industry stakeholders from across the Caribbean.

One of the key takeaways from CSEC 2026 was the clear and urgent call for greater regional collaboration across the Caribbean maritime and logistics sector. As Small Island Developing States facing shared challenges, including rising freight costs, supply chain vulnerabilities, port efficiency demands, climate resilience, and workforce development, it is evident that no single territory can effectively address these issues alone.

For Saint Lucia, this presents an opportunity to strengthen our role within the regional maritime community by fostering strategic alliances, supporting innovation, and advocating for integrated solutions that benefit both national and regional trade. Collaboration must move beyond dialogue and into practical action that delivers measurable outcomes for the people and economies we serve.

As the Chamber continues to advance its mandate, participation in forums such as CSEC remains important in building relationships, exchanging best practices, and supporting the development of Saint Lucia’s maritime sector.
